I like your research into and comments on early quilts and 1930s quilts. I read with interest your May 15 analysis of various aspects of Baltimore Album quilts, which are a major interest of mine. In 2017 I published, with Ronda McAllen, a paper in “Uncoverings,” the journal of the American Quilt Study Group. We did some updating and added new information on the work of Jennifer Goldsborough, author of “Lavish Legacies.” This is still the most authoritative source on the production & categorization of BAQs. Her book is the must-have for BAQ historians. Our paper “Baltimore Album Quilts, New Research” is available on the website of the University of Nebraska Libraries. There are several blogs on BAQs that we find have put out information that is either incorrect or very misleading. For example, Mary Evans is not the originator of BAQ designs, as shown by genealogical records, and grouping of BAQ styles is more accurate in Goldsborough’s analysis than others we have seen. Ronda & I just published an article on the relationship of BAQs and Mary Brown’s work. If you’d like to read it I’ll email you a copy.
